Bad Boys...... Dean gets a call freom an old friend Sonny...asking for help with a ghost. Sonny runs a home for delinquent boys, and Dean was sent there for stealing food when he was younger. Sam is stunned he never knew this about his brother and asks for more information, but Dean dodges his questions. Another murder occurs while Sam and Dean are at the house, so they scramble to find the culprit before anyone else dies. Meanwhile, Dean looks up an old girlfriend....
This epi really didn't do anything for me with all the stuff from Dean's past...and Sammy not having a clue was weird too. This was way too far off the beat & path from the shows storyline. It was a cute epi...but not the norm.

I Haven't watched it yet, will try to do it today after I get back form (surprise) shopping.
People raved about this though so I have high hopes, though for whatever reason episodes about Dean's youth have left me cold. Well, except for 'I wuv hugs', lol...that got to me...maybe because of Jensen. No one they've brought in as younger Deans seem to be able to give as much depth as he does. He can be a put-upon tough guy who cowers in his dad's presence all at once. I've kind of felt that the younger Deans have been more obnoxious than sympathetic.
There's a line from John in this episode that I'm hoping makes sense in context because without it, it annoys me and sounds out of character for John. I don't mind him being made out to be a hard-*** but more and more it seems they're trying to turn him into a insensitive person in general. There's one thing to say he was singled minded and grieving and regimented in the wake of Mary's death...it's another thing to make him uncaring altogether. As much as I like that the boys had backstory with Bobby, I still feel it was kind of wrong to do that by implying John was disinterested in his kids. It's a fine line that the toes are on, IMO.
But we'll see once I can speak from an informed position.

dianthusmoon, What did you think about that epi? I was just curious your take on the Bad boys epi. Also if you heard that line from John you were curious about. ROCK AND A HARD PLACE..... This epi I REALLY enjoyed! OMG Dean and all the virgins! His description of sex sounded sooo hot coming out of his mouth! He had that whole room of virgins at attention!!! Then when he was in that born again chicks place and he kept checking her out every chance he could. Lol...omg funny. THEN when they got down with it...WOW Dean...Yummy...Dean...*drool*. Well that's all that has come to my mind regarding this epi...lmao! Seriously very distracting from the plot. *The "mid-season" finale looks good! Holy Terror is on Tuesday December 3rd. Can't wait! I hope the Hellatus after this "mid season" finale isn't too painfully long though. I don't like the sound of that. Lol.

I did watch the episode...I found it to be just eh. Once again I didn't find young!Dean to be compelling at all. I think I'm distracted by the fact that none of the Deans look remotely alike each other or like adult!Dean. And they're all obnoxious. And I hated "D-dawg". It's a stupid name and they never put in context how it came to be so why bother with it? The gf seemed extraneous too; her presence added nothing to the story.
I don't like how John is being made out and that episode didn't make me feel better. When this show started, I never got the impression that John was supposed to be a jerk...it seemed like he was a grieving husband who was suddenly over-his-head as a single dad of really young children and was doing the best he could, especially knowing what he now knew about all of the additional things to worry about in the world. While it they put in context why John said what he said, it doesn't make sense: you leave your sometimes partner and sometimes babysitter locked up...so where was Sam when you were hunting during this time??? Did John leave him alone? Did he take him on the hunt? I'm starting to believe the fandom rumor that JDM somehow P-Oed the powers that be over there and they've decided to ruin John's legacy because of it. Word is that JDM has wanted to come back, when he's not working (like now), and has never been invited. Maybe it's just rumor but it feels like there might be something to it.
Rock and a Hard Place I liked this episode better than all of the ones so far this season, though I felt there've been better in the past IMO.
I hope tomorrow's episode is good, since we're not going to have it for a few weeks. Ugh. I'm really glad for TNT repeats and the apps so I can watch old episodes.

I wasn't happy with the last episode. It was too much like the dragon episode which didn't have a good plot line in the first place and now this last one seemed like a reason for them to get Dean into sex again.

Hi Dian, I totally agree with you on Bad Boys epi. I didn't like the name D'dawg either. Lol. Maybe they are kinda gunning for JDM...they cut him out every chaance they get. Maybe it's a conspiracy theory...lol. Idk, but it's a shame what the writers are doing to his character even now. I wasn't happy with the last episode. It was too much like the dragon episode which didn't have a good plot line in the first place and now this last one seemed like a reason for them to get Dean into sex again. Hi Rbn, I think I was blinded by Dean's ability to be so hot and sexy...lol. This epi definitely didn't do anything for the story line...but again...dumbstruck by Dean. Have they said how long the hellatus will be? Hopefully they'll say at the end of the epi.

Hi, fandom was so disappointed no shirtless Dean, the guys don't like to do those scenes. Jensen said he likes to wear 3 layers!
Dian, Sam was at Bobbys when Dean was locked up, John was on a hunt. You would think Bobby would have looked for him.
They have been running John down at least since Jump the Shark. It doesn't fit with his portrayal in earlier seasons and how the boys felt about him. Also a big departure from young John's personality. Even young John being a green beret in Vietnam he was still shown as a nice normal young man. Did more of this rundown happen when Sera was showrunner?

Yeah, not sure why the writers are giving John such a bad rap as a younger man/father. They have changed his character and how he was betrayed in the beginning of the show. They seem to have strayed away from that now.

casfan, to my understanding, this rift with jdm...if there is one...started during kripke's rein. one theory is that he couldn't be available when kripke needed him due to other projects so kripke threw a tantrum and decided john just wouldn't come back. idk, sounds silly but he wouldn't be the first showrunner/producer to do something like that.
HOLY TERROR
I've gotta say, I actually liked this episode. Maybe because of the Zeke reveal (even though it appears Sam still doesn't know)...that went on far too long and while still a Dean-girl, I'm SO with Sam in that wasn't a decision Dean should've made for him. I mean, think about it...he let some entity he barely knew POSSESS his brother. I know the reason was good but that's pretty damned insane. I was kinda sad to see Kevin go, unlike some of the other ancillary recurring characters (Meg, Benny, Garth) I actually got attached to Kevin in his first appearance so him being dead is a disappointment. After the episode aired, Osric tweeted a really long goodbye that I found really touching. He took the adoption into this fandom seriously and seems really really into being part of it and truly sad to see it go (at least for now).
OT--what's up with Orlando Jones and Stephen Amell live tweeting Supernatural? I know Amell is on Arrow and they are both CW shows....what is Orlando on and how did he get wrapped into the fandom?
Anyhoo, I felt some consequences and jeopardy in his episode and I think I'd been missing that. They may undo it as they've done in the past but it felt deep. I was intrigued by the concept of angels being able to take and use another angel's grace. I wonder if there'll be any side effects for Cas (I refuse to use 2 Ss!).
